Women’s flame retardant work jackets
Flame retardant work jackets keep you safe at work. They protect you against fire, heat and sparks and prevent flames from being able to spread further. But do be aware that heat can quickly go through the clothes and cause burns. We therefore recommend wearing flame retardant underwear under your work jacket for further protection. Flame retardant work jackets are well-suited for electricians, welders, and industrial workers for whom it is important to wear protective clothing. We offer both flame retardant work jackets and welding jackets for women from brands such as Mascot, Kansas, Fristads, Blåkläder and many more.
Flame retardant work jackets with important properties
Do yourself the favour of finding the right safety jacket for work if you have a job in which your clothes are at risk of coming into contact with heat, flames and sparks. It is important to protect yourself with a flame retardant work jacket or welding jacket with the right certification. Read about the two standards that we offer in our safety jackets:
EN ISO 14116 - protective clothing with limited flame spread
EN ISO 14116 is a standard for protective clothing, materials and material combinations that limit flame spread. Work jackets with this standard reduce the chance that your jacket will catch fire and put you in danger. However, if you do get a work jacket with this certification, you must be aware that you are only protected against brief contact with sparks, flames and heat. The certification reduces flame spread, which is to be understood in the sense that the chance of the clothes catching fire and putting you in danger is reduced, but not eliminated. Standard EN ISO 14116 is divided into three classes, Level 3 being the highest and safest level.
EN ISO 16112 - protective clothing against substantial heat and fire
This is the standard you should look for in a flame retardant work jacket if you have a job that puts you at risk of coming into contact with fire and heat. Flame retardant work jackets with this certification will protect you from exposure to substantial heat and fire. The standard is classified for certain parameters such as contact heat, radiant heat, etc., and in addition also divided into levels based on the different parameters. As the level increases, so does the level of safety.
Flame retardant work jackets and welding jackets do not compromise on quality, although safety must be paramount. You can find jackets with a good fit, good, practical pockets, as well as flame retardant reflectors that make you visible at work.
Check your flame retardant work jacket regularly
Your flame retardant work jacket will be ruined once subjected to fire or other exposure. Despite the fact that the damage is not visible, the work jacket’s material is weakened, and holes will appear after washing. Additionally, sweat and dirt can also affect the electric insulating effect, thereby impairing the safety level of your workwear. We therefore recommend checking your flame retardant work jacket regularly and possibly replacing your old flame retardant jacket with a new one in order to maintain optimal protection against fire and heat.
